SIGOURNEY, SADNESS, HIV MEDS, THE BEASTLINESS OF LOVE, OSCAR WILDE, AND MEANDERING ABOUT IN THE HALLS OF THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY WHERE I FIND COMFORT WHEN IT IS NEEDED (IT'S NEEDED)
I just became conscious of the fact that my previously held phobia of long sentences (probably derived from one of those catholic high school nun english teachers) seems to have magically disappeared & I think I can now attribute that to all of the years of following your posts … so thank you for that 😎🍀.
I'm so sorry to hear about that issue with your HIV medication. I have had a similar issue with United Healthcare, which refused a 90-day supply of my medication and charges a high copay. Luckily, I am in Buenos Aires. Two weeks ago I made an appointment online at a public hospital to request Dovato, my HIV medication. I showed up for the appointment the following week and waited five minutes for the doctor to see me. She reviewed the medical records I brought and wrote me a refillable prescription for Dovato. I went to the hospital pharmacy and waited 10 minutes for the pharmacist, who gave me a container of 30 pills. The charge? Zero! Life matters more than wealth here, and in many other countries. But not in the United States
I thoroughly enjoy reading your views on life and other important matters and I’m so sorry about your issues with the high cost of HIV medication. It’s an ongoing struggle for many with chronic health problems and it’s unfathomable how on top of struggling with trying to survive and keep healthy, people should add to that financial struggles. I hope you can have that resolved soon. Keep well and I look forward to your next posts.
I totally support your retreat from facebook. But it's fun to follow your "pilgrimage" vicariously again, so I like that you've mixed in some of the details of daily routine into this Substack missive. I've always thought you gave too much content away for free. You provide something valuable that people love, and that's worth paying for. I hope more people support you, whether via Substack subscription, or one-off donations via Patreon, etc.
