SPICE CAKE WITH MAPLE GLAZE, A CORNELIA STREET CAFE SALAD FROM MY SALAD DAYS IN NYC, A DESSERT I DISCOVERED THE WEEK AFTER I FOUND A MAN MURDERED, DE NIRO ON NETFLIX, & JONATHAN BAILEY AS RICHARD II
My landlady,
, who has her own Substack column here, Sex Advice for Seniors, snapped this photo above when she took a break from watching an episode of The White Lotus which she was enjoying as I was baking this spice cake topped with walnuts and a maple syrup glaze because the aroma was so delectable and the cake having so cooperatively slid from the pan had just welcomed the walnuts and the glaze. We tasted it right after this and it lived up to all my expectations. A great success. The recipe is below, as is a video of my making the best salad I’ve ever had and often make for guests as well as the simplest dessert you can make that sits within a wine glass and can be concocted in less than a minute. All that and my thoughts on De Niro’s new Netflix series and Jonathan Bailey as Richard II at the Bridge Theatre here in London. Please consider joining our paid subscriber community for only $5 a month or $50 a year to view the video and read the recipes and my rather zero-sum rave for Jon and a bit of a rant about Zero Day, De Niro’s new series. Thanks.
