I remember that issue, along with the Vanity Fairs you wrote cover stories for - they're always nostalgic, almost melancholy, those blasts from the past.

Kevin, your writing soothes my self-inflicted battered soul. Some days reading your essays is the only authentic peace I feel in my life, a comforting solace that I rarely find. Thank you!

Thank you for another lovely text and beloved memories. Now you can listen to “By the river”, by Brian Eno.

Have a nice Good Friday.

My mother requested that her ashes be put in a large body of water after her death, so after much (soul) searching, debating of logistics, etc, we scattered them in a local wetland. She'd always had a strong yearning for traveling, so I felt she'd share that with the many migratory birds that visit there. I still don't know whether she'd approve, as our relationship was difficult. (She, as well as my father, was an alcoholic.) At any rate, water, especially flowing water, has special meaning for me now.

P.S. It pains me to think of you drinking instant coffee. 🤗 Brenda Henderson
